When the bells all ring and the horns all blow And the couples we know are fondly kissing Will I be with you or will I be among the missing? Maybe it's much too early in the game Ah, but I thought I'd ask you just the same What are you doing New Year's, New Year's eve? Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight When it's exactly twelve o'clock that night Welcoming in the New Year, New Year's Eve? Maybe I'm crazy to suppose I'd ever be the one you chose Out of the thousand invitations you received Ah, but in case I stand one little chance Here comes the jackpot question in advance What are you doing New Year's, New Year's Eve? Ah, but in case I stand one little chance Here comes the jackpot question in advance What are you doing New Year's, New Year's Eve? Oh, what are you doing New Year's, New Year's Eve?

Daddy, won’t you have me Up on over to your house Christmas Eve? Let’s get closer on the velvet sofa Let’s start shaking what’s under the Christmas tree. Oh how I want you Oh how you want to Here’s hoping the feeling stays after the holidays, After the holidays. I get so frisky when I get tipsy Take me into your arms so tenderly My sleigh bells are ringing and the choir is singing For this feeling is oh so Decemberly How I want you Oh how you want to Here’s hoping the feeling stays after the holidays After the holidays. Baby, won’t you save me A soft little seat upon old Santa’s knee I am dropping my hanky for a little panky Oh lord we thank ye for what we’re about to receive How I want you Oh how you want to You’re the only thing on my list Wrapped up in nothing and sealed with a kiss How I want you Oh how you want to Here’s hoping the feeling stays after the holidays If you come around on Christmas time You show me yours and I’ll show you mine After the holidays.

City Snow 02:18
City snow it's stop and go, I miss you Twenty dollar lists and kisses from you You'll be pulling in before it's night I'll be stalling waiting for the light, O light I miss you I've run around the dining room put a spoon under my pillow Put ice cubes into Lake Ontario wishing for the winter I took a shot of something that's a little too expensive I admit the autumn's been a little too pensive Let's get lost and find a way to sing Fa la la la la la la Fa la la la la la la Fa la la la la la la City snow it's stop and go, I miss you City snow I won't let go when I've got you Cold and kissing, bells are ringing Lights are blinking, record's spinning Fire burning, love returning Fire burning, love returning

Old toy trains, little toy tracks, Little wooden toys, coming from a sack, Carried by a man dressed in white and red, Little boy don't you think it's time you where in bed? Close your eyes, listen to the skies, All is calm, all is well, Soon you'll hear Chris Cringle and the jingle bells Bringing old toy trains, little toy tracks, Little wooden toys coming form a sack, Carried by a man dressed in white and red, Little boy don't you think it's time you where in bed? Close your eyes, listen to the skies, All is calm, all is well, Soon you'll hear Chris Cringle and the jingle bells Bringing old toy trains, little toy tracks, Little wooden toys coming form a sack, Carried by a man dressed in white and red, Little boy don't you think it's time you where in bed?

Well I've been missing you since I was kissing you Underneath the mistletoe that night But then you went away, now winter's here to stay My Christmas dreams are gone out of sight No fruitcake, no stockings, no lights on the tree For the third year running Santa won't be coming Another Christmas all about me, me, me! You coulda told me, dear, that you'd be leaving here Long before New Year's Eve I might have found a way, I might have made you stay At least that's what I'd like to believe No champagne, no countdown, no dancing' till half past three For the third year running I've got no one coming Another Christmas all about me, me, me, me No champagne, no countdown, no dancing' till half past three For the third year running I've got no one coming Another Christmas all about me, me, me, me Well I've been missing you since I was kissing you Underneath the mistletoe that night But then you went away, now winter's here to stay My Christmas dreams are gone out of sight My Christmas dreams, my Christmas dreams are gone out of sight

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind Should old acquaintance be forgot and old lang syne For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne We'll take a cup of kindness yet for old lang syne We two have paddled in the stream from morning sun till dine But seas between us broad have roared since old lang syne For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne We'll take a cup of kindness yet for old lang syne

about

Suzie’s voice paired with Michael Johnston’s piano stylings is a perfect blend for the holiday season! Here they interpret classics Old Toy Trains, What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?, Auld Lang Syne as well as three original songs, City Snow, Christmas Dreams and After the Holidays. The physical CD makes a great stocking stuffer or coaster for your glass of egg nog!

From Suzie:
"Even though I am a daughter of a Unitarian and an Atheist Jew, I love Christmas. As a kid my dad dressed up as Santa Claus – I have the evidence in an old photo taken with a Kodak camera, a shot of him sneaking through the window of my parents’ New York City apartment. Later my dad pretended he was like Scrooge, declaring that he hated Christmas and often said “Bah Humbug” meanwhile he wrote notes to me and my sister as Santa Claus that we would read on Christmas morning. I would catch him singing along to Nat King Cole, “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…” and know that he secretly loved the holiday. My mom, on the other hand, declared her love for Christmas whole-heartedly. She loved all things with ginger and spice, decorating the tree and sewed stockings for each member of the family. Ella Fitzgerald on the reel to reel tape recorder was often her soundtrack.

So every year I look forward to getting out the Christmas music from the 40s, 50s and 60s – much of it written by Atheist Jews singing about the good life in America, by the way. One January I didn’t want to stop listening to all this good music and decided to write a song called “After the Holidays” inspired by all those great Jazz and Pop crooners. I recruited my dear friend, pianist and songwriter Michael Johnston to write the lyrics with me…full of double entendres and flirtation – I even made up a word “Decemberly” to describe the magical feeling of the holiday time.

I decided it was time for me and Michael to record a mini album of holiday songs including our original “After the Holidays”. Before our recording session, in the summer, I was fooling around on the piano and came up with a little melody which turned into “City Snow”. In this tune, Michael wrote much of the story of a person “wishing for Winter” and for the return of a loved one. We resurrected another original song by Michael and his wife Annie entitled “My Christmas Dreams” about unrequited love and loneliness during the holiday season done in a cheeky vaudeville fashion. We also chose Frank Loesser’s “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” just simply because it is one of my all-time favourite holiday songs. Michael’s wife, Annie, loves Nana Mouskouri’s version of Roger Miller’s Old Toy Trains. Having a kid who never wants to go to bed - especially on Christmas - it was easy for me to sing this song from the point of view of a tired but adoring parent. Finally, Michael suggested we do Auld Lang Syne. He introduced me to a Celtic version of the song that he had heard on a trip to Scotland many years ago. We arranged our version by incorporating both the American and Celtic melodies. A perfect song of love and longing and the expression of thanks for good friends who help us along the way. This tear-jerker always reminds me of what the holiday is truly about: friendship, peace and love.”
